  • The sport of rugby originated in Rugby, England in 1823 at a schoolhouse. During a soccer game, a young pioneer named William Webb Ellis caught the ball out of midair, ran down the field, and disregarded the rules, sparking the inception of a new sport. His actions also subliminally created a staple piece that would stand the test of time. The original rugby shirts were the house jerseys of the Rugby School House. However, this garment later became a core piece in the fashion industry.

  • Sports and various forms of creative expression have always served as inspiration for the fashion industry. Similar to Hip Hop, skateboarding has also been a catalyst in this regard. The rugby silhouette speaks volumes to the rebellious nature of its origin and has stood the test of time, being adopted by many brands. It provides an alternative to the traditional look of the popular "preppy" style that made the garment famous.

  • The Rugby shirt has been a pivotal garment for people of all walks of life throughout history and doesn't seem to be any less popular than it was when first fashioned hundreds of years ago. Here are a couple of notable figures sporting this timeless piece.
